We recently remodeled our small row house in the city. We initially hoped to begin the project two years before it actually was able to start. Thanks to the bureaucracy that goes along with living in an historic district in a big city, the permit process delayed us quite a bit. Two years later, the project was set to begin in mid Winter. We were bumping out the back of the house on three levels. They had to excavate the basement portion by hand and would be knocking down one hundred year old brick. It all sounded dusty to me. We had to seal off the rooms at the back of the house. The rooms on the other side of that were being remodeled. That meant we needed some moving storage help for all the stuff in those rooms. I wish we would have just moved all our things out and into storage. It was such a mess.

We rented one of those outdoor moving storage boxes. The company delivered it on site. It was a big metal thing they moved around with this wheeled contraption. We slowly moved everything from the rooms in the construction zone to the storage container. It was in our backyard and we thought it could stay there the whole time the house was being remodeled. The contractors filled up our tiny yard with debris and equipment pretty fast. We were sad, because we looked forward to just being able to dust that thing off, open the door and unload our belongings back into the house when it was finished. The moving storage company was so very helpful, in spite of our reluctance. Our storage pod was scheduled for a pick up less than 24 hours away.

Once the moving storage people put our container in their warehouse, we figured we would not be able to get in it until they delivered it back to our house. But all we had to do was call a day in advance and we could access it. Our storage box was in an air conditioned and heated secure building at the moving storage facility. The key to our box was in our hands too. We ended up visiting the storage box a few times to look for things we hastily packed, add some items and repack in anticipation for the return delivery.

It is a very good thing our stuff was securely stowed at a moving storage place. Just like the remodeling magazines warn you about, our builders finally finished more than 5 months later than they thought they would. It was hectic enough to just get settled back into the house. So we dreaded the idea of having to make time for moving our storage box back home. Those moving storage people took the burden off us, once again. They dropped off the container, while we were busy mopping and moving things. Given that we had already lost the use of our yard for so long, we did not want that metal box hanging around in the yard. We asked them to pick up it a few hours after they delivered it. After we unpacked it, we were busy getting settled back in. When we sat down for dinner, we noticed the moving storage container was gone and we had a nice empty yard. Within a week, we were living comfortable in our new and improved house and had forgotten all about the remodeling.

There are plenty of methods to choose from for storing your things or moving them to a new location. If you have to move, you can get movers to do it all for you, or rent a truck to pack and move yourself. For storage, on the other hand, you can set aside space in your home or go the route of traditional self storage. And for both, you can use pods storage units. “Pods” stands for Portable On Demand Storage, and is one of the most convenient storage methods available.

Renting Pods Storage to Move

In many cases, pods storage is the ideal solution for moving to a new home or office. But with so many moving options, it is of course important to take time to consider every angle. For moving, pods storage works particularly well for people with certain situations and priorities.

Pods storags is, for example, a great option for families who do not have much time each day to get their possessions packed. Since packing a pods storage unit can be done gradually over a month or more, it is simple to pack when you have the time… even if you do not have much of it. This makes portable storage units the best option for big families and working people with hectic schedules.

Using portable storage is also a good solution for local moves. Because while portable storage units are a great deal and will save you a ton of money for short distance moves, they are not necessarily economical for longer moves. If you are not moving cross country, chances are that pods storage is your best option.

When to Use Pods Storage for Storage

Portable storage units are also a great option for storing your possessions temporarily (or long term). Choosing to use pods storage for self storage is a simple decision… unlike using them to move, where you have more options and concerns to consider, using portable storage units to store your things is pretty straightforward. The truth is, portable storage is simply the best solution for anyone needing to do some self storage.

Still, there are those that particularly benefit from using pods storage. Most of all, it works really well for people who do are not able to get their things (particularly larger items like furniture, etc.) moved on their own. With traditional self storage, you need to have access to a large truck… and if you are moving a large volume of things, you will have to make several trips back and forth. Not a fun experience.

With pods storage, however, you have the convenience of easy access to your possessions with the simplicity of doing it from home. You simply pack your possessions into the unit which is delivered to your door, and call to have it stored for you. It is the best of both worlds; nobody but you has access to your things, yet you do not have to do all the work yourself.

Have you recently decided to move some of your belongings into storage? Do you wish you could escape from the cumbersome task of loading your belongings into a traditional storage shed? If you answered yes to either of these questions, it is time for you to consider portable storage.

You will be forced to endure hours of backbreaking work when you transfer your belongings into a conventional storage facility. The process begins with the rental of a large moving truck. You will then be forced to drive this cumbersome vehicle to your home. Unfortunately, the work is not over after you finally pull the truck into your driveway. The next step of the process is physically loading the truck with your belongings. Depending on the amount of items you have and the number of people involved, this can take anywhere from several hours to several days. You are mistaken if you think the hard work stops here. The next step is driving the moving truck to the storage facility; upon your arrival, you will have to unload your items from the moving truck into your new storage shed. The final step in this arduous process is returning your moving truck to the rental facility. Unfortunately, when you are ready to retrieve your belongings from the storage facility, you will have to experience this arduous process all over again.

You will no longer have a negative view on storage when you choose portable storage. The process involved with portable storage is almost effortless. Instead of renting a moving truck, your portable storage provider will bring your new storage unit to you. Then, it will be your responsibility to load your portable storage unit. Unlike traditional storage facilities and moving truck rentals, you will not be on a timetable and will not have to worry about paying penalty charges. Your work is done once your portable storage unit it loaded. Once you let your provider know your storage unit is loaded, your portable storage provider will personally pick up your unit. Your unit will then be stored in your provider’s facility, which supplies your unit with superior security. What happens when you are ready for your storage unit to be delivered? We will deliver your portable storage unit to you whenever you are ready. You will not regret choosing portable storage.

Money presents another problem associated with traditional storage facilities. What happens if you need extra time to load your belongings onto your truck? You are locked into returning the truck within a specific period of time when you rent a moving truck. If an unforeseen event occurs and your move takes longer than expected, the rental company will charge you an exorbitant penalty. You will never have to worry about hidden fees when you choose portable storage.

When you decide to move your items into storage, do not hesitate to choose portable storage.

I am so excited to be closing on a new home tomorrow. To me, the most daunting task associated with purchasing a home is the actual task of moving. Moving storage companies that come and take away all of my stuff for me seem tempting, but I don’t know if that would really be cost effective. I keep thinking that P.O.D.S., the company where you fill up the box-truck with your stuff, would be really cool and so much more convenient than a self-storage unit, but I am not sure that I have enough stuff to make it worth it.

I suppose I will just have to struggle through the daunting task of moving on my own. I would love to have a moving storage company move everything for me, but I wouldn’t be worth it. I am moving from a one bedroom apartment into a house, so I don’t have very much stuff for a moving storage company to take care of. I hope that I can be organized in my new house so that it doesn’t look like my apartment does now! http://self-storage.comparizons.com/

If your house is bursting at the seams with too much stuff and you need a place to store the overflow, or if you need to get your belongings out of the way of a major remodeling project, moving pods offer an attractive solution for you. The moving pods concept is simple. A moving pods company delivers the unit right to your driveway, where you store the pod until you finish packing. Regardless of your timeframe, be it a day, a week or a month, you keep the unit for as long as you need, at no extra cost. When you are finished packing, the company returns to transport the moving pod to its facility for storage until the time comes for you to retrieve your things.

There are several important points to consider when comparing moving pods companies. Be sure that the facility you choose has the best security possible, that no one but you has access to your unit, and that the facility is dry and clean and free of pests. Protect your items with moving pads or blankets, and paper pads if stacking furniture. Keeping appliance doors slightly ajar will prevent mold or mildew from forming. It would also be wise to make a list of the items that you are storing and consider purchasing a protection plan if the moving pods company offers one. As the saying goes, an inch of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If your plans involve moving house, moving pods can help with that as well. They come in several sizes and are constructed with materials strong enough to withstand weather damage and break in attempts. The moving pod sits in your driveway level with the ground, providing ease of access with a minimum of bodily strain. It does not require access by way of an unsteady metal ramp. No fuss involving in renting, obtaining, loading and maneuvering the van to your destination. The moving pods company takes care of transportation for you.

Your total cost will depend on the type of service you need. Prices will be lower during the off peak times of fall and winter so, if you can, time your project or your move accordingly. Perhaps a local shopping flyer contains a coupon for services. There are ways to keep the costs down. Take the time to do a little research into moving pods companies and you will not go wrong when it comes to convenience.

If statistics are to be believed, we Americans move around far greater than most other folks do the world over. The moving here implies relocation or what some would call migration. People may migrate interstate and sometimes out of state. Moving interstate means traveling by road, but if we have to move to another country, air travel or sea travel are usually the only options. In both the cases, moving also involves moving your belongings.

If you are indeed moving, what do you foresee your plans to be? You may call a traditional trucking company, who would arrive at a scheduled time. In most cases, you end up in a mad rush to store away bunged in whatever came first, little realizing the difficulty at the unloading end. If you were well heeled, probably the best Movers and Packers would be hired. However, what would be the result if you had no accommodation upon arrival at your new locality? Surely you need to store your belongings for the time being … so what do you do? Even more vexing would have been to move overseas with no immediate place of residence, meaning a heavy bill waiting at the airport or the Docks. Obviously a quality solution is required.

The way out is now available in the form of companies who do just what you require - storing your belongs while you move. These new age innovators also allow you to pack in your own time. How is it done? Well, we have a new concept in using Portable Storage Units. Portable Storage Units are containers that are loaded on mini trucks and placed in front of your house to load up in keeping with your schedule. By this method storing has become a lot more easier. When moving to a new place, you can also store your belongings in the company warehouse if you wish to do so. Differently sized items can be loaded in different portable storage units thus making the entire process of storing easier. Now moving around is hassle free. And now the big question - is it cost effective? Most certainly so. Just calculate what you would have otherwise had to do the traditional way - either leave your belongings in some friends house, or sell them or pay hefty demurrage charges at your new place. Storing the new way of using Portable Storage Units is absolutely the way ahead if you are relocating.

Moving from your old house to a new house can be a chore. Hiring a storage and moving company is an option if you can not do it yourself. The best way to move out of state is to use a moving company. If you have a deadline to report to a new job, storage and moving companies will make particularly good sense.

As soon as you decide to hire a storage and moving company to move your household possessions, call around to compare prices. You can find storage and moving companies in the yellow pages of your phone book. Your friends and relatives may be able to give a recommendation for a good storage and moving company.

One basic questions you should ask the storage and moving company is if they give free estimates. When you find one to give you an estimate, have them come over and look at your things before you hire them. Make sure they have insurance to cover any lost or damaged items.

Most storage and moving companies can pack things up for you too. They charge more for this service but it may be worth it to you if you do not have the time to do it yourself.

Make sure you tell them where you want your items placed in your new home. If you tell them where to put things, you will not have to move things yourself once you arrive.

So what do you do if you have to move your things out but do not have a new place to put them? It is good to know that for a monthly fee, you can store your things from month to month at a storage and moving company.

It was not all that long ago that our friends decided to move from DC. They had been here not too long, but long enough. You tend to make friends with people who live near you. They actually still owned a house on the West Coast while they lived here. They had their stuff spread out so much that they had storage units all over the place.

They finally decided to move west again and needed to store their furniture and stuff in a storage unit. They were pretty happy when the storage unit people said they could place the storage unit right on their street. Well, it wasn’t great for us that they moved away. From time to time they talk about coming back, we hope they do.

Moving constantly can have a negative effect on families with young children. Families in which one or both parents are in the military can be susceptible to constant moving, and this could have a detrimental effect on the children in the family. Many children who are only seven or eight years old have already because to three or four different schools due to moving. There are so many children who have had this type of experience.

Children who move only once or twice in their childhood are less susceptible to these damaging effects. These children may even find moving to be exciting; it is a chance to start over, make new friends, and maybe even change yourself. However, children who are forced to move around several times per year can have serious problems in the future. These children may feel like they are not in control or as though no one cares what they want. What if they do not want to move? They are basically forced to and this can hurt them later in life.

Children from families who move frequently can also have problems at school, not only socially, but academically as well. They may have problems finding and keeping friends. I know that I have a few close friends that I have known since elementary school. These kids do not have that at all. They are forced to try and make new friends wherever they go and usually lost touch with old friends. These children can also fall behinds academically very quickly. Most school districts follow different programs, different states have varying curriculum standards, and in the long run, it is very easy for a child to fall behind due to gaps in their education.

Moving can be difficult for not only the families who move, but the people around them as well. While these children have a difficult time reintegrating into school settings several times in their school careers, teachers frequently have a difficult time integrating new students into their classes, as well. Parents also face challenges, such as finding new childcare, after school activities, etc.

Constant moving can be hard on everyone involved, especially with families involved in the military who are relocated on a yearly or biyearly basis. The children, teachers, and parents are the ones most directly afftected by the moving.I bet it is extremely difficult to readjust at all, let alone every year or two.
