We have owned a sail boat for a long time. The thing about boats is that you have to remove and store all your belongings each winter. For many years, we stored our stuff in our basement. Most people who live in the suburbs probably store stuff in their garages. If you live in an urban area, storing your things is difficult. So after many years of bringing all the stuff back to our basement, we needed a new strategy.
We started to do research on storage units in the area. There turned out to be a storage unit for rent not too far down the road. I’m thinking this is the case all over now and that storage units are really easy to locate. I think have been building and building them. Seems like the storage unit market is really growing. Anyway, back to my story. Click here for more info.
So we rented a storage unit near by. We drove all the stuff from the boat to the storage unit. There was soo much stuff that we had to go back and forth a number of times. What I found was that because we were so close, I actually took more things off the boat and into storage. This turns out to be a good thing. See, things near the water or in the boat tend to mold. Inside the storage unit, climate control made sure that there was no moisture. This had the advantage of keeping things from molding, and they smelled better too.

These spaces are convenient to serve residential as well as business purposes. For the security of your belongings either you can lock these spaces with your own locks or the company provided locking systems.
The tenant has complete possession of the storage space and the right to entrance of the company disappears once the tenant leases the storage space. The only right the service provider appears if the tenant does not pay the rent either knowingly or even if he is not in a position to pay. There are more than 50,000 facilities operating in the United States which goes to prove that these are accepted by the public as convenient method of storage.

They may also be able to steer you away from a company that is not so good.
If your friends have no advice or experience in using a self storage company, check the classified ads. You can usually find a self storage ad in your local paper or circular. This may not be an ideal way to find one but it is a start.
You always can use the internet too.
