When you need temporary storage while moving house, look no further than moving and storage pods. Your moving and storage needs can be taken care of simply by renting a moving and storage pod. No worries.

Pods have revolutionized the moving and storage industry. In years past, moving day involved picking the rental van up first thing in the morning, then loading, transporting and unloading all your belongings before returning the van to the rental company before closing time. You had to hope that a family member or friend had some space to allow you to store whatever you could not bring with you to your new home. Stress no longer. Now both moving and storage can be handled by renting a moving pod.

Large, rectangularly shaped structures, moving and storage pods are constructed from high grade, aluminium coated plywood strong enough to withstand 100 mile per hour winds, rain, moisture, and mold. They are sturdy and safe enough to withstand both Mother Nature and the most determined thieves. Rest assured that your belongings are safe and secure in a moving and storage pod. Besides its tough construction, you will have the only key to the pod in your possession.

One of the best features of a moving and storage pod is its ease and convenience. Moving and storage pods can be rented for as long as you need them, eliminating the need to load and unload all in one day. The moving and storage company delivers your pod right to your driveway, where it sits level with the ground, permitting you easy access. Think of how much wear and tear to your back that you will avoid with a moving and storage pod. You no longer need to lift and strain to carry a fully packed box up a flimsy metal ramp into the moving van. You walk in and out of the pod with your load entirely at ground level.

Once your pod is completely loaded, the moving and storage pod company returns to pick the pod up and deliver it to your new location. If your new home does not have enough room for all your belongings, or you have not decided whether you want to keep everything, the company will store the pod, with your belongings, at its facility for as long as you need. Tight security and climate control ensure the safety and protection of your possessions until you retrieve them.

I am so excited to be closing on a new home tomorrow. To me, the most daunting task associated with purchasing a home is the actual task of moving. Moving storage companies that come and take away all of my stuff for me seem tempting, but I don’t know if that would really be cost effective. I keep thinking that P.O.D.S., the company where you fill up the box-truck with your stuff, would be really cool and so much more convenient than a self-storage unit, but I am not sure that I have enough stuff to make it worth it.

I suppose I will just have to struggle through the daunting task of moving on my own. I would love to have a moving storage company move everything for me, but I wouldn’t be worth it. I am moving from a one bedroom apartment into a house, so I don’t have very much stuff for a moving storage company to take care of. I hope that I can be organized in my new house so that it doesn’t look like my apartment does now! http://self-storage.comparizons.com/

If your house is bursting at the seams with too much stuff and you need a place to store the overflow, or if you need to get your belongings out of the way of a major remodeling project, moving pods offer an attractive solution for you. The moving pods concept is simple. A moving pods company delivers the unit right to your driveway, where you store the pod until you finish packing. Regardless of your timeframe, be it a day, a week or a month, you keep the unit for as long as you need, at no extra cost. When you are finished packing, the company returns to transport the moving pod to its facility for storage until the time comes for you to retrieve your things.

There are several important points to consider when comparing moving pods companies. Be sure that the facility you choose has the best security possible, that no one but you has access to your unit, and that the facility is dry and clean and free of pests. Protect your items with moving pads or blankets, and paper pads if stacking furniture. Keeping appliance doors slightly ajar will prevent mold or mildew from forming. It would also be wise to make a list of the items that you are storing and consider purchasing a protection plan if the moving pods company offers one. As the saying goes, an inch of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If your plans involve moving house, moving pods can help with that as well. They come in several sizes and are constructed with materials strong enough to withstand weather damage and break in attempts. The moving pod sits in your driveway level with the ground, providing ease of access with a minimum of bodily strain. It does not require access by way of an unsteady metal ramp. No fuss involving in renting, obtaining, loading and maneuvering the van to your destination. The moving pods company takes care of transportation for you.

Your total cost will depend on the type of service you need. Prices will be lower during the off peak times of fall and winter so, if you can, time your project or your move accordingly. Perhaps a local shopping flyer contains a coupon for services. There are ways to keep the costs down. Take the time to do a little research into moving pods companies and you will not go wrong when it comes to convenience.

Self storage units can sometimes seem expensive. I frequently think, “Why do people save all of this junk in the first place?” However, self storage units can actually help you save a lot of money in the long term if you’re a business owner, especially if you are relocating or refurnishing an office space.

Consider this…you own a business that is either moving to another place or opening up a new branch. All of that office furniture could be sold, and new could be purchased, or a reasonable amount of money could be spend to utilize self storage during the move. Were you aware that the typical office cubicle can cost around one thousand dollars? A self storage unit can be leased for several months for the price of one new cube. If each employee got a new cubicle, it would amount to tens of thousands of dollars for an average sized office. It would have only cost a few hundred dollars to store your office furniture in a self storage unit for a few months and reuse it at the completion of your move.

An additional situation where a self storage unit would come in handy would be in the making of bulk purchases. Perhaps it costs one thousand dollars per cubicle if you only purchase one or two cubes, but if you purchase twenty, they are significantly less. If you knew, for example, that you would be opening a new branch in another city in a few months time, you could purchase many cubes and store the unneeded ones in a self storage unit for a few months, and still have saved a good amount of money in the long run by purchasing the furniture in bulk.

There is actually a lot of savings to be had in using self storage units. There are so many creative ways in which good business owners put these units to use. If used inventively, self storage can save you thousands of dollars over purchasing new goods. Also, they can aide a business in saving money by permitting you to purchase goods in bulk and store the unused portion until they are needed.

So you’ve opted for moving storage as a safe and economical way to move, and you’re pleased with how little energy it takes to transport moving storage. Storage containers are indeed an excellent green option. But you’re appalled at the waste involved in packing. How can you pack your things into your moving storage container safely and securely while staying friendly to the environment?

Moving boxes, a prime source of waste, are the place where a little effort on your part can make the biggest impact on the environment. Rather than starting your move by running out and buying a pile of boxes, check Craigslist, Freecycle, and other free boards in your area for used boxes that other people are throwing out. Even a small population center will have more boxes available than you will ever need, so place some calls, do a little extra driving, and stock up. The only boxes you will need to buy are specialty boxes like picture boxes and glassware boxes.

(Please note that this is not advised in areas that have problems with bedbug infestations or that have a lot of cockroaches. Both cockroaches and bedbugs can ride on cardboard boxes, whether in adult or in egg form, so you may open your storage container to find an infestation you didn’t have when you packed. This is also why getting boxes from grocery stores should be an emergency measure; even the cleanest groceries have roaches.)

Packing materials are another area where traditional packing generates too much waste and going green can make a sizable difference. Get used packing materials at the same time that you get used boxes, and supplement them with your own soft furnishings. Towels, pillows, and blankets should be used as packing materials, not folded in a box. When your soft furnishings run out, plastic grocery bags are excellent padding. (They’re not green, but most people have drifts of them in their kitchen anyway.) Newspapers are another superb green packing material. If you have no newspapers because you went green by switching to online delivery, shredded junk mail makes great “packing peanuts.”

Depending on the type of moving storage you chose and how full you were able to pack the container, you may need to lash down your possessions with rope. Used rope is yet another packing material you might be able to pick up from people who just finished moving. However, if you must buy rope, choose a type of rope that is made of natural fibers, such as cotton or hemp, or a recyclable synthetic such as nylon.

Packing your moving storage container in an environmentally friendly way takes a little more care and consciousness than the old traditional method of using new boxes and packing peanuts. However, green packing materials are just as good at protecting your belongings, and are far better for the environment. When you are done, your moving storage container will be not only a green moving option, but a green option, period.
