Portable storage units have become extremely popular and as a result, there have been numerous companies springing up over the past few years. Originally, these units were advertised as a great way to transport your belongings when you are moving, but the uses of portable storage are only limited by the scope of your imagination. These handy storage units are great for any number of things in addition to simply moving from one locale to another.
The concept of portable storage is pretty straightforward. You call the company and they deliver the storage container to your home or residence. Once the unit has arrived at the specified location, you pack your belongings into it. Once you have loaded everything you desire into your portable storage unit, simply call the company back and they will pick up the unit … taking it either to a warehouse until you need it or moving it to another location you specify. It is amazing that no one thought of the portable storage idea sooner.
When you are using portable storage, it helps to think outside of the box. You do not have to limit yourself to household moves. If you need a good place to keep your seasonal decorations, then you might consider using a portable storage unit rather than cluttering the garage or attic space in your home. And even better, choosing to use portable storage will save on costly trips to standard storage facilities.
If you run a business that has excess inventory but limited storage space, portable storage may also be a good fit for you. You can store your excess inventory safely and conveniently without spending lots of money on extra rental space. And whenever you need the inventory, simply call the portable storage company and have the container delivered right to your business. Portable storage is an excellent option for your seasonal and promotional inventory.
Schools and organizations can also benefit from the use of portable storage. Whenever an event is being planned or held, such as a carnival, the goods can be stored and delivered to the site when needed. Portable storage is also a viable option for use as a shelter or general workstation.
Aside from being genuinely useful, one of the main conveniences of portable storage is that you do not incur the extra costs and legwork associated with renting a moving truck when you need to store or move your belongings. It is literally storage at your fingertips.
When you think of convenience, portable storage is one of the things that come to mind. These sturdily constructed units boast reliability, availability, and most of all affordability. So instead of wasting time and effort on conventional storage, perhaps a portable storage unit should be a consideration the next you are planning a move or just need to clear out the excess.

The self storage units are typically secured by the renter themselves, and the operators of the self storage do not usually have direct access to the contents inside. This takes care of any security issues and greatly minimizes the risk of theft and property damage. There are also many self storage facilities that offer computer control of their operations complete with security cameras that greatly increase security. You could even say that leaving your items in a self storage facility offers a greater degree of protection than if you were to leave it at home. Some facilities are in fact quite advanced, with climate control and cold self storage features provided.

Self storage also means scalability of the containers, and the different sizes for different type of houses ensured that the need was matched by the size resulting in savings for the client. In traditional packers and movers, the standard truck sizes obviated this flexibility. By having assorted container sizes, clients could now match the items together in one container and other similar type of items in another container. A simple case in point being different self storage containers for garage items and furniture. For those wishing to transport delicate items requiring air conditioning, could now hire specialized climate control self storage units.

All these options afforded virtually no flexibility and added costs to the overall expenditure incurred on moving your belongings or your goods from one place to another. Therefore, there arose a need to have a more flexible and easier option, an option that did not fray your nerves or result in altercation with your spouses or partners. That option is now available by the use of a revolutionary new concept, the concept of using Portable Storage Units.
What are portable storage units? They are usually small box shaped wooden containers, the size of a small truck which are used to transport your belongings. The Portable Storage boxes are typically delivered at your door step and you can take your time to load these containers unlike a traditional truck move.

This also meant that consumers had to work around the schedule of the corporation. A self storage unit is made of anyone and everyone. It does not have to be just for a person when they are moving. They are invented to be used for all kinds of storage including personal and business. The reason a self storage unit works so well is because it allows for a user to pay a minimal rent cost to store their belongings.

You can even decide to have only part of your belongings delivered at a time if you use multiple moving pods, so you can unpack the essentials first and find space for all your less important belongings once the house is set up.
How do I use pods?
You use the company’s web site or the help of an agent to decide how many moving pods you need and what sizes you want. You place an order for the number of pods you will need, and schedule delivery. On the appointed date, a truck delivers the pods to your house. You take your time filling them, and when you are ready, you call and arrange for the company to take the full pods away.

And after your portable storage container shows up, you can keep it around for a while, so there’s no rush.
Portable storage units are weather safe so there are no fears about getting things wet or moldy. This helps you get the things that can go into deep storage packed away way before the actual move. When the real moving day comes, you already have the less necessary things packed way in the back and you can add the more day to day stuff in. The portable storage company will send a truck to pick up the unit and deliver it to your new doorstep.

If you have a lot of books, do not pack them into one large box. It will be virtually impossible to move and the box may rupture. Pack books in smaller boxes that are easy to maneuver. Also, pack as much into the boxes as possible and then fill the empty space with either old bedding or newspapers to prevent collapse when the boxes are stacked.
With larger self storage units, it helps to leave some space between your boxes and furniture.

Pod Storage, to put it in a nutshell, is a potent combination of moving trucks and storage units that is soon to see commercial success on a large scale.
All the unwanted, unnecessary tension and stress of having to move by oneself is alleviated by this one simple service called Pod Storage. One does not have to even in the least degree trouble oneself with hired vans, driving them, parking them or refueling them. As most of the containers used for Pod storage are custom made for the purpose of shifting and moving houses, the potential problems of packing and moving have been envisioned and they are positioned close to the ground to aid loading and unloading. Deadlines to return or finish your moving are a non existent concept as far as pod storage is concerned as the service providers do not have a specific time limit for return and most customers take at lest a month on an average to return the pod storage containers.

The schedule of delivery at the new place of residence could now also be decided by the client. Clients utilized this flexibility to hunt for their dream house and then prepare the house before asking the provider to deliver their belongings. What about no sure address for a month or two? No problems, because self storage solutions now provided for storing away the entire container, locked and sealed in secure company owned warehouses. These warehouses are designed not only against the vagaries of nature but also against theft.
Self storage also means scalability of the containers, and the different sizes for different type of houses ensured that the need was matched by the size resulting in savings for the client.

How durable is pod storage? The answer is quite durable. Designed from the most resilient materials, pod storage is meant to withstand wind, rain, snow and heat for many years.
Pod storage can be delivered right to your own yard by a company truck. If you have a very small personal vehicle and cannot fit all of your belongings in it to move, you can put the majority of them in a pod. Take the bare essentials and let the pod storage company do the rest during your move.

But it is the inside that is the most interesting and crucial since the goods are actually kept in there. The engineering of the inside of a moving storage is carefully and elaborately dealt with so that it provides a good habitat for the goods transported. Firstly, it is well painted and nicely worked out for aesthetic reasons. However it is necessary that one checks up with the nature of such paints, dyes and chemicals before storing goods in the moving storage so that they are absolutely benign for the goods and do not get corroded by themselves or cause unwanted alterations in the goods. For example the foods items stored in a moving storage can cause damage to the inner paint because of the moisture that they release.

Different sizes are another benefit to pods storage units. If you have a lot of extra furniture that will not fit in your current place, the biggest pod size will most likely fit it all without a problem. If you only have little things to store, you will be better off with a small pod size. The variation of size and price with pods storage units make them extremely convenient for customers. A third benefit is the fact that they are delivered right to your property, if you would like.
